The Nature of Collective Worship
We believe that Christian worship in a Catholic school names and celebrates God’s presence in our lives. It is concerned with giving glory, honour, praise and thanks to God. It is our loving response, in word and action, to God’s invitation to enter into relationship, made possible through the work of Jesus Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit.
The Place of Collective Worship in the Life of our School
Worship in this school is more than just a legal requirement. It is an integral part of school life and central to the Catholic tradition.
We are a Catholic school, who support our parents in helping their children to continue to grow in love of Christ and to achieve their full potential. Our exceptional staff. visionary governing body and the supportive parish of St Charles Borromeo has helped to create conditions to nurture spirituality, grow in faith and live our mission for every child to ‘Belong, Believe and to Blossom.’
We respond to Collective Worship in the following ways:
- Daily pupil led prayer reflections
- Weekly statements to live by
- Weekly whole school hymn practice – with hymns chosen by the pupils
- Timetabled pupil led collective worship (with parents invited into school)
- Weekly ‘Good News’ assembly
- Pupil led Mini Vinnie liturgies
- Celebration of Mass
- Liturgical year assemblies
We also respond through our Pathway Character Curriculum
