Before and After School Care

At St Charles we value the importance of wrap around care to support parents.

We are pleased to offer high quality care with Kick Start and Kick Back our Breakfast and After School club.

Organisation

Our before and after school clubs primarily run from the school hall, but we also utilise the school’s outdoor areas. The club is run by school staff so your child will be cared for by familiar faces. Children should be dropped off and collected from the main school door.

Activities

Both clubs offer a calm environment where children can engage in a range of activities. They have time to sit, eat and play with their friends. Indoor activities on offer include; board games, colouring and puzzles, art and craft, computers, construction and ‘small world’ toys.  Outdoor activities include football, hockey, tennis, bats and balls, chalks, hoops, and the school’s outdoor equipment.

Food

Breakfast and snacks provided at the clubs will be balanced and nutritious. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:15am. After school, a small snack and drink is provided at 3:30 then an evening snack is given at around 4:50pm. Choices will vary day to day but will include;

  • Low sugar cereals
  • Toast, crumpets, bagels
  • Fresh, tinned and dried fruits
  • Sandwiches, wraps, pittas, crackers
  • Ham, chicken, cheese, hummus
  • Salad – tomatoes, cucumber, peppers
  • Beans/spaghetti on toast
  • Fruit juice, milk and water

Behaviour

Both clubs will follow the school’s behaviour policy and expect children to behave appropriately. Children who continue to misbehave will be recorded in the club’s behaviour book and parents will be informed. Persistent bad behaviour could result in your child losing their place in the club.

* Prices are set by the Governing Body and reviewed annually in light of the club’s financial position.

A registration form must be completed and returned to us before a child can attend either club. A child will no longer be registered with the club if they have not attended a session for 1 academic year.

Where possible payment of fees should be made when booking a place otherwise a bill will be sent. Bills should be paid within 7 days.

Cancellations

If you cancel your child’s booked place 24 hours before the session, a refund will be given or no charge will be made.

If you cancel your child’s booked place less than 24 hours before the session, the session fee can be transferred (if paid) or you will be charged the minimum session fee of £3.

Late and Non-Collection

If you know you are going to be later than arranged to collect your child we would appreciate a call to let us know.

If you know you are going to be later than 6pm (when club/school closes) you must call the club mobile phone or school as soon as possible, and keep club staff informed of the situation.

In order to cover the additional costs of staff working beyond their contracted hours, late collections (after 5.30pm) will be charged at £5.00 per 30 minutes.

Persistent late collections (after 5.30pm) will be monitored and charged at £5.00 per 10 minutes.
